Juan Carlos Herrera, Founder & Lead Architect

After a 20-year career as a software engineer, I made a significant pivot, returning to university to pursue my other passion: law. This journey from engineering to law ignited a unique perspective on the legal field's challenges and opportunities.

For more than two years, I have delved deep into advanced technologies like Large Language Models (LLMs), knowledge graphs, and context engineering. My goal was to create a tool that combines the logical precision of software engineering with the nuanced demands of legal practice.

The result is iusgpt, a GenAI-powered legal assistant designed specifically for lawyers. Built on the powerful foundation of Google's Generative AI, iusgpt leverages its most advanced features to deliver unparalleled insights and efficiency, including:

Multimodality: Our system can not only process complex legal texts but also integrate and analyze information from various modalities, such as images of documents or legal diagrams, to provide a more comprehensive understanding.
Function Calling: iusgpt can connect with external legal databases and APIs, allowing it to retrieve real-time, up-to-date legal information and perform specific actions, such as calculating filing deadlines or retrieving case summaries directly from a source of truth.
